Bolham Manor Garden Open For The National Garden Scheme's 'Snowdrop Festival'
As part of the national garden scheme?s Snowdrop Festival, Bolham Manor open its gardens on Sunday February 12th.
Situated close to the town of Retford this elegant 19th century Manor House will open its gates for visitors to enjoy a feast of horticultural delights.
Pam and Butch Barnsdale have worked tirelessly over the years to create this haven of tranquillity.
As you enter the garden you are greeted by the ?Dancing Ladies? who are merrily positioned amongst the swathes of snowdrops and narcissus. Made from willow these ladies are said to represent certain members of the Barnsdale family. Feel free to ask Pam or Butch about this!
There is a fascinating history surrounding this garden and you will see nestled at the bottom of the garden a sandstone troglodyte cave, that once looked out over the River Idle and onto the mill.
Each path in the garden leads you into spring and the promise of warmer days.
Your eyes are drawn to the occasional well positioned sculpture or feature guiding you through to other areas of the garden.
I suggest that you wrap up warm, embrace the weather , experience the wonderful snowdrops and the delightful atmosphere of this wonderful garden.
Hot soup and other refreshments available.
Plants on sale from the award winning Morton Nurseries.
